Hello all, hope all is well.
State meet dates.
- Compulsory state meet December 7,8,9,
- 2012 Optional state meet/Xcel invite March 15,16,17,
- 2013 Xcel state meet May 4-5 2013
Please note that optional state meet is four weeks prior to regionals this upcoming year. This is one week longer than this year and what we would traditionally like it to be. The reason for this is the preferred weekend of March 23-24, is also college conference meets and most judges in Iowa judge both, just like the surrounding states top judges. That being said, the following weekend March 30-31 is Easter weekend.April 6-7 is then only one week before regionals and that is too close. So we had to back it up one weekend to March 15-17.
Now that we know the state meet weekends, bids are due to me by June 30. Please check rules and policies regarding what you are getting into by potentially winning the bid to host. Ask questions of people who have hosted. Do your due diligence and check Iowa website for information as well.
Please remember our state is growing in numbers, their possibly could be a meet or two that could start on a Friday even though the schedule above states Saturday and Sundays for the most part. If I am missing your meet date, please get it to me and I will get it on the calendar and blast it out to everyone.
NEW NEWS, The state board has decided to do away with level 5 achievement ribbons at state meet. At any invitational meet, it will be up to the meet director if they still want to use ribbons or not. All meets must use the ribbons for level 4. When you have time, please look at the state website and make sure all info is still up to date regarding your clubs. Also as you read through the website, if you see any mistakes or mis information is present, please let me know and we can get that fixed.
